Ian Kent, Non-Executive Chairman
Ian Kent joined Intercytex as Non-Executive Chairman in
September 2001. He brings significant experience to Intercytex
having been Chairman and Non-Executive Director of a number of
successful public and private life sciences companies. He is
currently Chairman of venture capital backed Argenta Discovery Ltd
(respiratory drug discovery). He was Founder, Chairman and
Executive Director of Imutran Ltd (xenotransplantation) which was
sold to Novartis in 1997. He was Chairman of Innovata plc which was
sold to Vectura Group plc in 2007 and PIramed, sold to Roche in
2008. His previous Non-Executive appointments include Vernalis plc
(drug discovery and development), Biofocus plc (preclinical drug
discovery), Adprotech Ltd (protein therapeutics), LGC Holdings
(diagnostic services) and Roslin Biomed Ltd (cloning).
He is Chairman of Intercytex’ Remuneration Committee and a
member of the Audit and Nominations Committees.

John Aston MA, ACA, Non-Executive Director
John Aston joined Intercytex as a Non-Executive Director in July
2005. He brings over 20 years of biotech financing and investment
banking experience to the role. He is currently Chief Financial
Officer of Astex Therapeutics Ltd, a privately owned UK drug
discovery and development company. He was previously Chief
Financial Officer of Cambridge Antibody Technology Group, a UK
biopharmaceutical company. John joined CAT as CFO in 1996 and took
the company through a successful flotation on the London Stock
Exchange in 1997, an international financing raising over £90
million in March 2000, a US Listing on the NASDAQ National Market
in 2001 and finally, its acquisition by AstraZeneca in 2006. Prior
to CAT, John was a Director in Corporate Finance at J. Henry
Schroder & Co Ltd where he worked for 14 years. He qualified as
a chartered accountant with Price Waterhouse and also worked at the
British Technology Group.
He is Chairman of Intercytex’ Audit Committee and a member
of its Nominations and Remuneration Committees.

Alan Suggett BSc, PhD, CChem, FRSC, , Non-Executive Director
Alan Suggett joined Intercytex as a Non-Executive Director in
June 2005. He brings 20 years of experience of operating at the
technical/business interface in the medical devices field and in
strategic and governance leadership, in particular related to
R&D, clinical, regulatory, and environmental aspects. Moreover,
as an early industrial champion of tissue and cell engineering he
has direct experience of the challenges involved in bringing such
technologies into clinical practice. Until retiring from his
full-time operational roles at the beginning of 2004, he was Group
Director of Technology at Smith & Nephew plc and a
long-standing member of the Company’s Executive Committee.
Previously he was Group R&D Director at Smith & Nephew and
held senior positions with Scottish & Newcastle Breweries and
Unilever Research.
He is Chairman of the Medical Devices Faraday Partnership and
the Scientific Advisory Board of Photopharmica Limited, a Fellow of
the Royal Society of Chemistry and an Honorary Visiting Professor
at the University of York. He is Chairman of Intercytex’
Nominations Committee and a member of the Audit and Remuneration
Committees.
