Nick Higgins BSc, MSc, Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director
Nick joined Intercytex as Chief Executive Officer in January
2005 having been a Non-Executive Director of the company since it
was founded, and brings over 20 years of experience in
commercialising biotechnology products. He was previously Chief
Business Officer and a Board Director of Acambis plc (vaccines)
which he joined in 1994. He was responsible for all commercial
activities including IP management, licensing, corporate
development, mergers/acquisitions and sales and marketing. In
addition, he played a key role in the company’s flotation on
the London Stock Exchange in 1995.
Prior to Acambis he worked for Porton International Ltd
(biologicals) where he managed IP and commercial agreements with
the company’s collaborators. Before Porton he worked for The
PA Consultancy Group where he was a founder member of the
Biotechnology Group in which he participated in over 50 European
and international assignments. He started his business career with
Unilever Research Ltd (consumer goods) as a chemical and
biochemical engineer. Nick has a BSc in biochemistry from the
University College of Wales, an MSc in biochemical engineering from
University College, London and an MSc in the Management of
Intellectual Property from QMW, London.

Max Herrmann BSc, ACA, Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director
Max joined Intercytex as Chief Financial Officer in September
2008. Previously he was a consultant for Fusion IP plc (an investor
in science and technology) and Managing Director of ING Equity
Markets where he managed a team of analysts and a specialist sales
force covering the European pharmaceutical, biotechnology and
healthcare sectors. Prior to ING, he was a pharmaceutical analyst
at Robert Fleming Securities. Max started his industry career as
financial controller for Onyx Pharmaceuticals, a US-quoted drug
development company, where he was integral to its successful
listing on NASDAQ. Max has a BSc (Hons) in microbiology from the
University of Kent, and qualified as a Chartered Accountant with
Arthur Andersen.

Paul Kemp BSc, PhD, Founder, Chief Scientific Officer and Executive Director
Paul founded Intercytex in 1999 and is its Chief Scientific
Officer. He has over 17 years of experience in the commercial
development of cell therapies. Prior to founding Intercytex, he was
VP Research at Organogenesis Inc. He joined the founders in 1987 as
a staff scientist researching into collagen as part of the wound
repair stimulant programme Apligraf® and he was later
instrumental in its development, manufacture and methods of
shipping. He is a principal inventor on several patents related to
various regenerative medicines. Paul has a BSc in biochemistry from
the University College of Wales, a doctorate in the chemical
structure of skin from the University of Leeds and carried out post
doctorate studies on collagen cross-linking in skin at the
University of Manchester.

John St Clair Roberts MRCS, LRCP, FFPM, Vice President - Clinical and Regulatory Affairs
John joined Intercytex as VP Clinical and Regulatory Affairs in
September 2005 with over 20 years of experience in the clinical
development of vaccines and biological products. Previously, he
held the position of Medical Director at a number of leading
biotechnology companies including Microscience plc, Xenova Group
plc, Cantab Pharmaceuticals plc and Merieux UK.
John graduated in medicine from the Royal College of Surgeons in
Ireland and prior to his career in industry, he practised hospital
medicine for a number of years in the National Health Service (UK).
John has contributed to numerous publications, presentations,
technical committees and lectures.
John was elected a Fellow of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical
Medicine of the Royal Colleges of Physicians (UK) in 1999 and is a
Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine and the Medical Society of
London. He is also a Member of the British Association of
Pharmaceutical Physicians, the British Medical Association and the
Medico-Legal Society.

John Lovelady BSc, PhD, Vice President - Operations
John joined Intercytex in April 2007 with over 20 years of
experience in the production of biologicals, the management of GMP
facilities, QA/QC and regulatory compliance. He was previously
Director of GMP Manufacturing Operations at Cobra Biomanufacturing
plc, a contract manufacturer of clinical grade proteins, DNA and
viruses. Prior to Cobra he was an independent consultant to
the industry, VP of Technical R&D and Manufacturing at
Centelion (formerly Gencell, a Paris-based, French
biopharmaceutical/gene therapy company spun out from Aventis), VP
Operations at Genzyme Corporation (UK subsidiary of a US
biotechnology company), Fermentation Manager at Fermentech Ltd (a
private fermentation facility) and he started his career as a
research scientist at Technoferm Developments Ltd (Porton
Down).
John has a BSc in Applied Biology and a PhD in enzyme
biosynthesis.
