Intercytex announces appointment of Chief Executive Officer

4th January 2005, Cambridge: Intercytex Limited, an emerging healthcare company developing products for the treatment of chronic wounds and hair loss, announces the appointment of Nick Higgins as Chief Executive Officer with immediate effect.

Nick Higgins, aged 48, has been a Non-Executive Director of Intercytex since it was founded in 2000. Until his appointment as Intercytex’ CEO, Nick was Chief Business Officer at Acambis plc where he was responsible for all commercial activities. He was a key member of the Acambis team since its formation and transition from a private to a public company, with an increase in market capitalisation from £2 million in 1994 to over £250 million today.

His particular areas of expertise include licensing, M&A and strategic alliances. He was part of the team which took Acambis public in 1995 and was closely involved in Acambis' acquisitions of OraVax in 1999 and Berna Products Inc in 2003, as well as the strategic alliance signed with Baxter Healthcare Inc in 2000.

Prior to his current role, Nick held a Non-Executive directorship at the cancer vaccine company, Onyvax Ltd, from 1997-1999 and held a number of positions at Porton International, PA Consulting Group and Unilever.
