Intercytex completes Phase I clinical studies on woundcare product ProtoDerm

Manchester, 30th May 2003: Intercytex today announced completion of first in human clinical trials looking at safety of ProtoDerm – a cell-based therapy indicated for treatment of chronic skin ulcers arising as a consequence of venous insufficiency.
A total of 16 patients with venous stasis ulcers were treated with ProtoDerm; all wounds progressed to closure. The study was conducted at four UK centres including Wythenshawe Hospital in Manchester under the guidance of Principal Investigator Professor Charles McCollum. Professor McCollum is an internationally-respected vascular surgeon with a worldwide reputation for developing innovative approaches to treatment of venous stasis lesions.
